Marine weather may change rapidly There are more than 30 automated weather stations maintained by the Finnish Meteorological Institute on the Finnish coastline and in the outer archipelago. All coastal weather stations produce observations of wind direction and speed. Most also measure air temperature, humidity, and pressure. In addition, they detect horizontal visibility and cloud amount. The observations are made every ten minutes.
