Boating also generates toilet waste, which must be properly dealt with at suction drainage stations.
Roope services ensure litter-free marine areas
The so-called Roope Services is a waste management service mainly for watercraft users and is run by the Keep the Archipelago Tidy Association. In Finnish marine areas, there are a total of about 200 sites in Finnish marine areas marked with the well-known "Roska-Roope" logo of a friendly seal.
The Roope services are maintained by the association's service boat crews, as well as local service personnel.
All of the Roope services are listed on the Keep the Archipelago Tidy Association website according to the port number. In addition, the list contains the coordinates of each location, as well as information about the other services available.
The Keep the Archipelago Tidy Association also maintains suction drainage points
Besides the Roope services, the Keep the Archipelago Tidy Association maintains a list of suction drainage sites throughout Finland. This list is based on information from both municipalities and ports. The port operator or municipality is responsible for the maintenance and care of the suction drainage equipment.
